Even if you never miss an oil change, it’s easy to forget your vehicle’s air conditioner. Keep your cool, year round, with our A/C system services. Don’t wait for the next heat wave!
Your comfort depends on periodic inspection and maintenance of your car or truck’s A/C system, including these components:
Engine Compartment
Compressor – is a pump that draws in refrigerant, compresses this gas, and forces it into the condenser.
Condenser – is a small radiator that causes the refrigerant gas to cool and condense into a liquid.
Receiver-Dryer – removes any water that gets into the system, preventing ice crystals from forming.
Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) – causes the high pressure refrigerant to rapidly expand, drop in pressure, and cool even further—down to 32-degrees F.
Belt – drives the compressor. It can either be the serpentine belt or a separate V-belt.
Refrigerant – most commonly R-134a. This fluorocarbon is more environmentally-friendly than Freon, but it still poses global-warming concerns. A new EPA-approved refrigerant, R-1234yf, will be phased in by 2017.
Passenger Compartment
Evaporator – is the component that actually “conditions” the air in the passenger compartment. As the refrigerant comes in contact with the warm air in the passenger compartment, the cold, low pressure liquid absorbs a tremendous amount of heat and turns back into a gas. The evaporator is usually located in the foot well.
Fan – circulates the cold air throughout the passenger compartment.
Our technicians have the training and specialized equipment to keep your vehicle A/C operating at peak capacity.
Diagnostics – including electronic “sniffers” and dye tests to locate refrigerant leaks. Schedule an A/C inspection today for your car or truck.
Maintenance & Repairs – service the compressor, evaporator, condenser, and electronic controls, as necessary.
Recharging – evacuate and recharge the refrigerant specified for your vehicle, according to manufacturer’s specifications and environmental regulations.
Schedule an A/C System Service today at Tolker Auto Service. We're open five days a week.
